Here we have a lovely example of early English porcelain, dating from 1820 and featuring beautifully painted pink roses and buds with gilded flowers and leaves. This decoration sits between two deep cobalt blue bands that have been copiously gilded.

Here we have a lovely example of early English porcelain, dating from 1820 and featuring beautifully painted pink roses and buds with gilded flowers and leaves. This decoration sits between two deep cobalt blue bands that have been copiously gilded.

Each item is marked cb over 208 on the base. This mark is illustrated in Godden’s encyclopedia of British pottery and porcelain marks and is listed as number 470; being that of Charles bourne of the Grosvenor Works, Fenton, Staffordshire Potteries, England. The factory operated from 1817 to 1830. We believe this shape and pattern dates to around 1820.
